EMIGSVILLE, PA – November 11, 2016 – Vasont Systems’ Bill Burns and appsoft Technologies’ Anthony Apodaca have been selected by the Center for Information Development Management (CIDM) to speak at the 2016 DITA Europe Conference held this year in Munich, Germany on November 14-15. Bill and Anthony will discuss the challenges organizations face with developing rapid publications of content across multiple channels and the tools they are using to succeed.  

The demand for publication of content across multiple distribution channels is rising, forcing organizations to use non-traditional modes of content creation. Organizations are turning toward intelligent content such as structured XML or DITA to meet this challenge by focusing on authorship that will have a positive ROI for distribution. However, the benefits of XML production processes and lack of experience of content contributors with structured authoring must be balanced appropriately. Organizations need the advantages of structured content, but they’re not as equipped as more technically oriented businesses to deal with the change that using structured content implies.

Bill and Anthony will discuss how organizations are facing these challenges, and how tool vendors are rising to the challenge of making structured content uncomplicated. They will also talk about the current trend of working towards simplicity with structured authorship and explore organizations that are helping to drive this initiative forward, including the responses from the  standards community and developers of XML solutions.

Bill Burns is an Applications Engineer for Vasont Systems. He has 22 years of experience in the technical communications and publishing tools industries, including 12 years as an XML/CCMS consultant. Bill provides technical consulting and training services specializing in XML technologies, content management, XSL publishing processes, single-source process development, technical writing, and content internationalization. He currently resides in Boise, Idaho.

Anthony Apodaca has worked in the US and internationally as an advocate of XML technologies, structured content, and publishing methodologies for the past 10 years. He thrives in distilling complex processes, tools, and workflows into something simple and manageable, while not compromising on the integrity of the end product. Currently, he is Business Development Executive at Xeditor and lives in Seattle, WA.
